| Update on Pending Changes for FHA Risk-Based Premiums |
|
FHA Implements Risk Based Pricing:
HUD previewed last week that risk-based premiums were coming in Mortgagee Letter 2008-13 that expanded FHA Secure. But the notice in the Federal Register on May 13th states that risk based premium changes for both upfront and monthly mortgage insurance premiums will go into effect with new case numbers beginning July 14, 2008. All borrowers seeking a thirty-year mortgage can expect an increase to 55 basis points in the monthly premium and a range of factors for calculating the upfront mortgage insurance premium.
