| PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Wow! The pools can’t open fast enough this year. I think Spring just blew right past us and let summer settle in prematurely. Oh well, I’ll take it over the cold weather any day.
I want to thank everyone who participated in the Home Mortgage Information Fair we hosted downtown at the 2nd Street Market on May 19. All in all, it went pretty well. The Fair is an excellent concept, and I hope we do it again in the near future.
As with any new event, it is a learning process. Perhaps the next time it would be beneficial to host it during a “home show” or similar event in order to maximize the turnout. But, even without that type of backdrop this time, we still had people show up with specific questions regarding appraisals, titles, and loans, etc. So it was a success for the inaugural event.
The market seems to be off a little of late. At this point, it is really hard to predict what the future holds for our industry, but I still believe that something will have to give sooner or later.
We as consumers cannot continue to fill our gas tanks each week with gas prices steadily on the rise. We’re well above $3.00 per gallon, and I’ve heard we may see $4.00 per gallon before summer’s end. If this happens, it will surely cause us to reduce our spending on other things. While I’m no economist, I smell recession in the air, especially if the state of our economy holds its current course.
This being said, remember that brighter times are around the corner. Don’t wait for them though. The more proactive you are now, the bigger the rewards you will reap when the time does come. |
