| PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I’ve decided not to mention the weather this month, since I would have to let you read this article at the exact time I was typing it for it to make any sense. I’ve lived in Dayton my whole life and should know better (80 degrees Monday, 38 degrees Tuesday). OK, that’s enough, let’s move on.
I want to thank everyone on behalf of the Board for volunteering to serve on our various committees. It really is appreciated, and is greatly needed. It’s an excellent way to meet people in our industry, and it also helps to get your name out if you have considered running for a spot on our board. If you haven’t been contacted yet, you will be as help is needed.
All event chairpersons have a list of volunteer names and have been instructed to secure the assistance of as many people as possible for events. Some events require committees that meet several times before a scheduled event, whereas others may only be needed the day of an event. The needs are vast and varied, and I want to thank you again for volunteering to give of your time to help out.
One project we have recently completed is the development of a new DMBA television commercial, which is now running on the WB channel. If you have not yet seen it, you can view it on our website.
The commercial was created to inform consumers of our existence, and let them know that DMBA members are required to demonstrate ethical practices in every area of our industry. It also serves to bring awareness to predatory lending issues, and how to stay away from them. The commercial directs consumers to our website to search for participating members of the DMBA.
In this same vein, the DMBA is hosting a “Home Mortgage Information Fair”, designed to provide consumers with answers to their questions about our industry. We especially want to make people aware of predatory lending issues and how to avoid them. I feel the DMBA is obligated to educate consumers in order to help them better understand our industry and make their home buying experiences pleasurable. Plus, an event such as this serves to promote the positive side of mortgage lending and shine a positive light on our members.
I hope to see all of you there! |
