| PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
Do you feel like you are constantly trying to master the great American balancing act? It’s the one where you have a competitive, demanding business on one side of the scale, and the importance of family and friends on the other. There you are in the middle trying your best to juggle.
The goal is to achieve a balanced life, whatever your definition of that may be. To me it is conducting business to the best of my ability, while not letting it take away from time for my family, vacation opportunities, or outside interests. The former feeds me the finances I need to support that which is important to me. The latter feeds my soul and allows me to enjoy living!
When I started in this industry, I was the mother of four young children, so making time for my family was an absolute must. This career appealed to me because of the flexibility it afforded to be available for them. Now my children are grown and have families
of their own. But, guess what? Family STILL takes priority with me!
No matter what you determine is your priority, this industry is one that allows you to take control of your job and your life. However,
first you must know what your priorities are, and establish a business plan that maximizes your time.
Planning for business efficiency will keep you from wasting time. If you know you have a prior commitment to family or friends at 5:00, do not suggest to a customer that you will be available later in the day! Commit to them for the next day. We undermine our own success if we create false expectations that lead to disappointment and overly demanding customers.
Keep your life in balance. Continue to strive to be a top producer, but make sure you concentrate on "having a life" too!
"Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." – Howard Thurman |
