Ok, are we in a recession, facing inflation or is it stagflation? Do you ever wonder who they really are that presents to the world the state of the economy?
One thing that the economists, market, bankers and all of us can agree is that the market we face is unlike any other in history. It is very over whelming trying to determine what declining market means, what the pricing hits for credit score truly are, what credit score fits for what program and so on.
Now more than ever we need to respect the professionalism of each institution and originator. Every lender is adopting their own internal guidelines which they are getting from their investors (secondary market) in addition to what FNMA/Freddie Mac, FHA and VA are instituting. We are all trying to survive. Know your guidelines and respect that what you can do other’s may not be able to, but understand they may be able to originate or close a loan that you can not. What is happening in our business is very complicated. Develop a referral system with friends in the industry with other institutions to help best serve the customer. The Dayton Mortgage Bankers Association members need to support each other to help provide a positive impact in our market.
Forward to Spring! I am very optimistic that this spring will bring us all increased business. Thank you to all who attended the March meeting and hope to see all of you at the April general membership meeting.
