Denny Smart - 2006 DMBA President

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Holidays are over and the New Year is in full swing! Goals and strategies have been set and, if you have not already done so, you should begin to take action on your plan. My father used to say to me, “Plan your work and work your plan.” Strive to stick to it every day, week and month.

This new year of 2006 may feel much like 2005, but when compared to the past fi ve years I believe you will fi nd many differences. Think about which year(s) brought you the most success. Think about how your actions and approach affected your plan, your life and your work. Then build from the successes and learn from the rest.

Although the buyer’s market looks positive you may find yourself needing to go back to the basics for business. Works every time! How is it that we get away from this very simple yet successful concept? Perhaps we get comfortable with where we are in business and just “coast”. Coasting does work for a while but it eventually reaps undesirable consequences.

Refinances will always be a fair part of our business, especially with many of the ARMS and balloons coming due this year. It’s great to count on these “sure bets”, but we must also continue to promote new business.

Going back to the basics to achieve both repeat and new business is a sure formula for long-term success. It will pay off!

“You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give.” - Winston Churchill
